Child Safety Standards
Our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) · Last updated 1 September 2026
Velvet Voice is an adults-only service, 18 and over, and has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. There is no warning, no strike system and no second chance for it. An account found engaging in it is terminated, its content is preserved for law enforcement, and it is reported to the authorities.
1. What is prohibited
The following are forbidden on Velvet Voice without exception, whether by voice, text, image or implication:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including drawn, animated or computer-generated depictions.
- Sexualising a minor, describing a minor in a sexual way, or expressing sexual interest in minors.
- Grooming — building a relationship with a minor for sexual purposes, or attempting to.
- Sextortion, or threatening to share intimate material of a minor.
- Trafficking, solicitation, or arranging any sexual contact involving a minor.
- Using the service to find, request, produce or distribute any of the above, or to direct anyone elsewhere for it.
- Any use of the service by a person under 18, whether or not it involves the conduct above.
2. How we prevent it
- An 18+ floor at sign-up. An age below 18 cannot create an account — the minimum is enforced on the server, not only in the form.
- Phone activation. Every account is tied to a verified phone number, which makes it materially harder to create accounts in bulk or to return after a ban.
- Voice verification. Members are asked to verify with their own voice, which is checked before the account is marked verified.
- Photo review. Images uploaded to the service are held for review before they are shown to anyone.
- Contact masking. Handles, phone numbers and addresses written into free text are automatically masked, which limits attempts to move a conversation somewhere unmoderated.
3. How to report it
Reporting is available to every member, from inside the app, without any special step:
- From any profile — open the account and choose Report. Say plainly that it concerns a minor or child safety; those reports are treated as the highest priority and are looked at ahead of everything else in the queue.
- From any conversation — report or block the person you are speaking to. Blocking also destroys the conversation.
You do not need an account to report. Anyone — a member, a parent, a platform, or a member of the public — may write to us directly:
Point of contact for child safety and CSAE inquiries:
childsafety@mescomp.online
We aim to acknowledge reports of this kind within 24 hours and to act on them immediately. Please include the handle of the account and anything you can say about what happened. Do not attach or forward any illegal imagery — describe it instead; we will work with law enforcement to retrieve what is needed.
4. What we do when it is reported
- Act first. The account is suspended immediately on a credible report, before any investigation is finished. We would rather suspend an account wrongly for a day than leave a child at risk for one.
- Preserve. The account's content and records are preserved for law enforcement. This is why our privacy policy states that reports survive an account deletion — deleting an account does not destroy the evidence of what it did.
- Remove and terminate. Violating content is removed and the account is permanently terminated, along with any other account we can attribute to the same person.
- Report to the authorities. We report apparent child sexual abuse material and related conduct to the appropriate authorities, including India's National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in), and to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where its CyberTipline applies.
5. Compliance with the law
Velvet Voice is operated from India and complies with applicable law on child protection, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012, section 67B of the Information Technology Act 2000, and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021. Where the law of a member's own country imposes further obligations, we comply with those as well. We cooperate fully with lawful requests from law enforcement.
6. If you are a minor reading this
This service is not for you, and you should not have an account here. If someone on this app or any other has approached you sexually, or has asked you for pictures, it is not your fault and you are not in trouble. Tell an adult you trust. In India you can call Childline on 1098, free, at any hour. You can also report at cybercrime.gov.in, and you can write to us at the address above.
7. Keeping these standards current
We review these standards at least once a year, and whenever the product changes in a way that affects them. They are published here rather than only declared to a store, so that anyone can hold us to them.
